My Philosophy (so far!) – Inquiry Based Learning

I believe that students learn best when they are interested in what they are learning about. Every student is unique, so giving students choices in their learning fosters engagement, creativity, intrinsic motivation, independence, and critical thinking skills. My goal as a future educator is to stimulate each students’ individual qualities in a safe environment that supports growth physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially.

Types of Student Inquiry

Different types of inquiry can be used depending on the students and teachers comfortability levels. Inquiry and giving students choice should not mean it is a free for all. Inquiry should still be scaffolded and students should be equipped with the proper language and tools to know the layers and dynamics of inquiry.
